Tina Turner (geb. Anna Mae Bullock) ist eine Sängerin und Schauspielerin. 2013 nahm sie die Schweizer Staatsbürgerschaft an, bis dahin war sie US-amerikanische Staatsbürgerin.
Sie gehört mit über 180 Millionen verkauften Tonträgern zu den weltweit erfolgreichsten Sängerinnen.
1958 lernte sie in St. Louis Ike Turner mit seiner Band Kings of Rhythm kennen und wurde deren Backgroundsängerin. 1960 nahm sie das Lied A Fool in Love auf. Sie sprang dabei kurzfristig als Solosängerin ein, da der vorgesehene Sänger Art Lassiter ausfiel. Der Titel schaffte es im August 1960 auf Platz 27 der US-Charts. Aus Gründen der Promotion gab Ike ihr daraufhin den Künstlernamen Tina und benannte seine Band in Ike & Tina Turner um.
